Ruby M. Taylor, 94 passed away at The Caring Place in Midland Michigan on October 23, 2012. Ruby was born on August 15, 1918 in Howell County Missouri to Omer and Amanda (Callahan) Burden. On August 20, 1933 Ruby married Basil “Jiggs” Taylor in West Plains Missouri. Jiggs died on December 31, 1985. Ruby and Jiggs moved from Missouri to Muskegon Michigan in the 1940’s. Ruby resided in the Muskegon area until 2004 when she moved to Midland to be near her son. Her greatest joys were her grandsons and to serve others by baking cinnamon rolls, potato rolls, or a full meal. She was very active in her church and was a truly dedicated Christian her entire life. She was a charter member of Faith Temple of Muskegon MI and had taught Sunday School for over 40 years. Ruby was also very active as an officer in TOPS and traveled to their conventions all over the state. Ruby is survived by one daughter Barbara (Ralph) Christiansen of Ravenna, Michigan; one son, Donald (Eileen) Taylor of Midland, MI and the pride of her life her three Grandsons, John David (Stephanie) Taylor and great grandchildren Joel, Jack and Josie of Noblesville IN; Steve (Sonia) Taylor and great grandchildren Nick, Hannah and Joshua of West Bend, WI; Dan (Erin) Taylor and great grandson Will of Carmel, IN; step granddaughter Jamie Sanders and Special great granddaughter McKenna Sanders of Midland. She is also survived by one brother, Herl Burden of Liberty, MO., a special niece Elaine Sokolowski and two special grandnieces Kathy Sokolowski and Angie Strandberg. Besides her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by a son Larry Wayne, a sister Elise Bengston and a brother Merl Burden. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Muskegon Rescue Mission, 1691 Peck Street, Muskegon, MI 49441 or the Charity of the Donor’s Choice. A special thank you to the staff at The Caring Place for their care, compassion and friendship over the last three years. A memorial service and a celebration of her life will be held at the Ever Rest Funeral Home, 1783 E. Keating Ave., Muskegon, Michigan 49442 at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 27, 2012. Officiating will be Rev. Erin Taylor. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
