Robert Wayne Jonas, age 87, passed away on March 11, 2022. He was born on February 12, 1935 in Muskegon, Michigan to Salvador “Paddy” and Hazel Jonas. Robert grew up in Fruitport, MI with his family. The family home was just off of Shettler rd. on top of a hill. When he was a child lightning struck his home, and it burnt down. Miraculously, Robert was able to help get everyone to safety. Even from that early age, he always put family first. Throughout his younger years he loved all sports. He loved baseball, playing football in his leather helmet, and skiing down Shettler Road Hill. Robert always loved watching old movies, any Christmas song, the hallmark channel, camping all over Michigan, gardening, and passing out candy on Halloween. There are so many memorable parts of Robert’s life, but his proudest is when he built his home on Kathryn St in Fruitport. His work ethic was truly a gift. He worked for several years at National Products in Spring Lake, and then Structural Concepts until his retirement in February of 2000. His love of sports followed him thought out his whole life, he loved to watch the University of Michigan play, and his favorite colors were blue and gold! Robert had no greater love, than the love for his children and grandchildren. Robert was the kind of man who would always give a helping hand. He was a very caring, stubborn, and independent man, even until his final days. Robert will be dearly missed by his close friends and family.
