Lance Christopher Jenkins (known as Chris) was born on October 2, 1991 in Jacksonville, Florida. He grew up faithfully attending Harvest Baptist Church and attended school at Harvest Baptist Academy. He was led to Christ by his grandmother, Maryann Schenck, at the age of 6. His mother, Lorraine, raised Christopher and his sister Kylie, in church and was a faithful example of what a Christian should be. As a teenager, Christopher surrendered his life to the Lord and never looked back. He attended The Crown College in Tennessee for a year, after which he travelled back to Jacksonville to work as a youth pastor in his home church. He served there faithfully for 3 years, before moving to Kentucky to finish his college education. It was there at Commonwealth Baptist College that he met his wife, Laura Houser. Their wedding took place on June 11, 2016. He graduated the next year with his bachelor's of science in Bible and Pastoral Theology degree on May 12, 2017. Christopher spent a year in Iowa working with Laura's father, Pastor Steve Houser, before moving to Michigan to serve as an assistant pastor at Broadway Baptist Church under Pastor Brian Jackson.
Christopher dearly loved his Lord, wife, family, pastor, and church. He was a dedicated husband, loyal son, and protective big brother. He gave his heart to every one of the teens he worked with. His dedication to bringing himself and others closer to the Lord was evident to all who knew him. He cared for his friends and encouraged them to always live their best for Christ. The person Christopher appeared to be was the person he truly was inside. He loved helping others and willingly volunteered his time without hesitation. He enjoyed every aspect of life. He taught and firmly believed that a life serving Christ is a joyous one. His genuine smile and laugh lifted all those around him. He was devoted to his wife and made certain there was always time to spend building on their relationship. He was constantly striving to be a better Christian, mentor, husband, brother and son. Though his life was not always an easy one, Christopher chose to focus on the good; praising all those who had invested in him. He was known best for his infectious laugh, love of life, and passion for the Lord.
"According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death." Philippians 1:20
