2023, after a three-year struggle with lung cancer.
Kevin was born in 1952 in Muskegon, MI to Clair A. Stevens and Rosalie E. (Chase) Stevens. He attended Hesperia High School, where he enjoyed playing tenor saxophone in the band and participating on the football team as a defensive end. He graduated in 1971 and shortly after enlisted in the Army serving for three years with the 42 nd Maintenance Company in Germany. He worked as a machinist for L3 Technologies Combat Propulsion Systems for 40 years and was a member of the U.A.W. Local 113 acting as a union steward and a member of the bargaining committee. He retired from the company in 2017.
Kevin’s children from his marriage to Karla Gleason, Jeremy, Faune, Amber, and Autumn, brought him much joy as did the years he spent caring for David Nadjkovic. His stepchildren from his second marriage to Kimberly Stevens, Dominick and Mercedes Varela, blessed him with just as much happiness.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends alike especially over a great cup of coffee, and he loved making people laugh with a good joke. He found much pleasure in books, films, music, hunting, fishing, gardening, and raising his chickens whom he affectionately referred to as his girls. Especially memorable are the times he would use his extensive music collection to play Name that Tune, Spaghetti Saturdays where his family would gather at his home to watch movies and share a meal, and the nightly
Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy contests he shared with them. He was a father figure, friend, and mentor to many.
Kevin also treasured his annual trips to Las Vegas, Nevada. As well as exploring the United States on road trips with friends, whether it was heading out West to explore national parks or experiencing the 100 mile yard sales in Missouri. He rarely would pass up a chance to go with friends to the casino, always enjoying the dream of winning big.
Kevin is survived and missed by his children, Jeremy (Heather), Faune (Robert), Dominick, and Mercedes. Forever cherished and remembered by his grandchildren, Ethan (Abigail), Harmoni (Michael), Hunter, Madison, Shayla, KJ, Hannah(Pat), Lily, Audrey, Reid, his 7 great grandchildren, his brother Robin, his sister Judy, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Per Kevin’s request, no services are planned.
