James (Jim) Carlton Crough, age 84, of Montague, Michigan passed away in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Saturday, November 16, 2024. He was born in Buffalo, New York on November 24, 1939. Jim was employed by and retired from CMI Dearborn, INC.
An ardent cowboy, he enjoyed riding and roping. He loved reading, playing guitar, traveling, hunting, fishing, and woodworking. On January 7th, 2024, Jim celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary with his wife, Mary Ann Crough. Mary Ann survives Jim, along with six of their seven children: Sharon Nwosu, Jamie Aiken, Jeffrey Butler, Margret Barnes, Robert Crough, and Douglas Crough. His oldest son, James Carlton Crough Jr., preceded him in death on January 5, 2014; fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren (soon to be twenty).
Jim was a proud U.S. Navy veteran, having served his country with honor before returning to Muskegon. After his discharge in 1959, he pursued a life-long career as an electrician.
Jim’s legacy of hard work, integrity, dedication to family, and helping others will be remembered fondly by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
A Celebration of Life for Jim will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at VFW Post 3256, 9370 Walsh Road, Montague, MI 49437. All are welcome to attend.
