Derek Robert Jacobsen, age 43, was called home on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, in Muskegon, Michigan. He was born on May 16, 1981, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Thomas Jacobsen and Therese Domanchuk. Later in life, he moved to Muskegon, Michigan.
Derek was a dedicated and hardworking individual who always strived for excellence. After completing his education in accounting.
He was a loving individual with a heart of gold, and he couldn't wait to spend the day with his family. Known for his sense of humor, he always had a joke to share, and his children loved to hear his funny stories. As a passionate sports fan, Derek enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Lions play. He often gathered his family around the TV to cheer for their favorite teams. His enthusiasm for the games was infectious, and the living room would echo with laughter and cheers. Throughout his life, Derek remained active, constantly seeking new adventures and experiences. Derek was always up for an adventure, often with a Mountain Dew in hand. His children adored their father's adventurous spirit and looked forward to their family outings. One of Derek's favorite pastimes was playing Cribbage, a game he cherished since his grandmother taught him at the age of seven. He often sat down with his children to play, teaching them the strategies and tricks he had learned over the years. The sound of laughter and friendly competition filled the air as they played together. As a devoted family man, Derek spent cherished time with his beloved children. They would have movie nights, go on bike rides, and simply enjoy each other's company. His children knew that no matter what, their father would always be there for them, ready to share a joke, watch a game, or embark on a new adventure together.
Derek is survived by his mother, Therese (Dan) Domanchuk; his children, Payton (Leva) Jacobsen, Jasmine Jacobsen and Dakota Berry; his brother, Ed (Jill) Williams; and many nieces, nephews and Cousins. his great friend Natasha Spaniola.
A private celebration of life will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024, at Ever Rest Funeral Home, 1783 E. Keating Avenue, Muskegon, Michigan officiated by Pastor Carlos Ramos.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Derek's memory.
