On November 19, 2024, we lost someone truly special, Judy Ray Burgin. Born on New Year's Day 1951 in Finchville, Kentucky, Judy always had a way of making life a little brighter and more intriguing for those around her. She is preceded in death by her father, Stanley Raymond Murphy, her mother, Mamie Frances Sweatt, her brother Kenny Murphy and her son, Edward "Eddie" Burgin, Jr. Judy's life was nothing short of a fantastic journey that left us all with wonderful memories and unforgettable stories.
Judy was a woman of deep, yet moderate faith, steadfast in her Christian beliefs, finding solace through family, and for Judy, family meant everything. Together with her beloved husband, Skip, she painted memories across the last 54 years of marriage. Their adventures took them across various horizons, absorbing the beauty of new places and enjoying the thrill of travel. But no matter how far they wandered, Judy's heart always beat strongest surrounded by her family.
A sharp mind and competitive spirit, Judy was always up for a game of Scrabble. Her quick wit frequently leaving the rest of us in the dust or laughing. She had a unique and delightful way of infusing humor with a touch of sass, making every moment spent with her a fond memory. As we say our goodbyes, we are reminded of Judy's love. We hold Judy close, knowing her spirit shines brightly in the love she leaves behind.
Judy is survived by her husband of over 54 years, Edward "Skip" Burgin, Sr; daughter, Michelle Lampitt and her husband Tim; grandsons, Daniel, Dylan, Jeremiah and Owen; granddaughter, Devin; nine great grandchildren; sisters, Doris Goode and her husband Jody, and Lisa Sweatt Solis; and brother, Larry Sweatt.
Services to celebrate Judy will be at Eleven O'clock the morning of Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Roselawn Funeral Home with placement to follow in the mausoleum at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are cordially invited to visitation Friday evening, November 22, 2024 from Three O'clock until Seven O'clock also at Roselawn Funeral Home, 5350 NW Broad Street, Murfreesboro, Tennessee 37129.
"Time will not dim the face we love, the voice we heard each day, the many things you did for us, in your own special way. All our lives we will miss you, as the years come and go, but in our heart, we keep you, because we love you so."
Matthew 5:4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
