James Morris Childers

James Morris “Buddy” Childers, age 82, of Lavergne, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Stonecrest Medical Center. Buddy was happily married to his wife Shelby for over 61 years. Mr. Childers was a highly skilled automobile body repair specialist. He loved to spend time in his vegetable garden and go fishing. He also enjoyed working with his hands to build things, such as cedar chests.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his daughter, Angie Brewer and her boyfriend Billy Golden; his granddaughter, Ashley Brewer and her boyfriend Thomas DeBow and great grandchildren, 2 year old Georgia Jean DeBow, 1 year old Rowdy DeBow and 19 year old Kyleigh DeBow; also his grandson, Greg Brewer and his wife, Kayla and his daughter, Audrey Brewer.

Mr. Childers was the son of the late Forrest Lee and Effie King Childers. He was also survived by his brothers, Bill Childers, Johnny Childers, Cameron Childers and wife Donna and Charles “Chip” Childers; sisters, Norma Jean Bray, Joyce Layton and her husband James and Judy Bailey. He was preceded in death by siblings, Ella Mae Hammock, Mary Varner, Donnie Childers and Frankie Childers.

A visitation will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Creekmont General Baptist Church, 5867 Washington Blvd., Murfreesboro, TN 37129 and a Celebration of Life Service will begin at 3:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
