Doris King Spears

Doris Drake Spears, age 90, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family. A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late James Beverly and Louise Mears Drake.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Jim Spears; sisters, Mary Love Phillips, Edith McKee and Virginia Eddleman; and brothers, Buddy Drake and Gus Drake.

Doris is survived by daughter, Suzanne Spears and son, Joey (Veda) Spears and daughter in law, Carrie Spears; grandchildren, Dylan Spears, Sara (Terry) Rose, Jennifer (Danny) King, Rainee (Josh) Chappell, Chad (Amberly) Spears, Justin Spears, Denise (James) Williams, Taylor (Lauren) Butler and Paige Butler; great grandchildren, Tyler and Colton Rose, Bella, Ally, Joey, Jase, Jack and Luke Spears, Olivia and Jacob King, Emily (Parker) Filson, Baylor and Baylee Williams, Walker Butler, Sophie and Jackson Chappell; great great grandchild, Redd Filson and also many nieces and nephews.

Doris worked at GE for 9 years and retired from K-Mart, where she worked for 22 years as a Receiving Clerk.

Doris loved working in her yard and gardening. She especially loved her dog Buddy. She was “The Rock” that held her family together. She loved going to church at Bellwood Baptist until her health prevented her from going.

Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at 2:00pm at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Kevin Drake as the speaker.

Pallbearers will be Dylan Spears, Chad Spears, Justin Spears, Tyler Rose Colton Rose and Danny King.
