Carla Jean Allen Dickerson, born January 28, 1948, rejoined her momma, her daddy, her brother, and her grandbaby on May 29, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents Carl and Oleta Allen, her brother David Allen, and her grandson Nathaniel “Fidget” Dickerson. She is survived by brother James Allen; daughter Faith Hawkins (Butch), sons Michael Dickerson (Candi) and David Dickerson (Eileen Sherlock); granddaughter Campbell Dickerson and grandsons PFC Erik Dickerson and Falcon Dickerson; niece Lucy Allen (Stephen) and grandniece Abby Richardson.
Carla supported her three children as a single-mother by devoting 36 years to the Baptist Sunday School Board (Lifeway) and driving a cab in Nashville, while also giving her time caring for babies in the nursery and teaching ESL classes at First Baptist Church, Nashville. She also volunteered at the VFW and American Legion in Inglewood, TN and Kingsland, GA. She filled the rest of her time with pet sitting, meeting with the Second Saturday Ladies, and loving her friends and family in a million different ways.
Carla wrote to her children: “Being a mother was my biggest dream. I loved you all very much and you have all made me very proud to be your mother. I have come to also love your mates very much. And those babies – oh, those babies. How I love them. I hope they will remember their Nana with love and fondness.
And now, if God has continued with His marvelous grace, I am in Heaven and am happy but missing you. Be kind to each other, be faithful and loving to your mates and be good fathers.”
Carla is loved very much by those she leaves behind. She will be missed as much as a companion as a sister, mother, and Nana.
