Mr. Sumrall served his country in the United States Air Force and was a longtime mail clerk for the US Postal Service. He was a skilled handyman, having built the house that he and Eva lived in. He enjoyed listening to gospel, bluegrass, and country music and met Ricky Skaggs and Sharon White at the Grand Ole Opry, as he and Eva celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
