Truman D. Welch, 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday night, October 25, 2022, at Signature Health surrounded by his family. He was born Thursday, November 1, 1934, the son of Paul and Mildred (Collins) Welch. Truman was born in Grant County, Indiana and moved to Michigan in his teen years where he worked on his uncle’s farm and attended Quincy High School, graduating in the top of his class in 1954. He was a meat cutter at Gommel’s Market for over forty years, retiring in 1999. Truman and Ruby attended Avondale Methodist Church and sang in their choir. He loved to play cards and travel the country with his love, Ruby. He will be remembered for his work ethic, whistling, independence, and always helping friends and family. Survivors include his son, Dale Welch; daughter-in-law, Tammy (Terry) Welch; stepchildren, Darrell Brown, Myron (Angela) Brown, Martin (Lina) Brown, Sharon (Ron) Wolf, and Rhonda Brown; multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Don Welch; sister-in-law, Jan Welch; special friend, Larry Balle; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruby A. Welch; his first wife and mother of his children, Clara “Sue” Welch; his parents; son, Terry Lee Welch; and a brother, Curtis “Dee” Welch. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 31, 2022, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304 with Pastor Ben Lang officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park. Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Elm Ridge Funeral Home.
