 Obituario de Kirby Garrett
Kirby Garrett, 87, Muncie, passed away Monday, December 7, 2020, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born Friday, July 7, 1933, in Faix, Tennessee, the son of Coy W. and Ollie Mae (Crouch) Garrett. Kirby served his Lord for many years. He pastored at several churches including Jackson Park Baptist Church, Southern Baptist Church in Eaton, and Mountain View Baptist Church in Modoc; he was the Associate Pastor at the Yorktown Baptist Church and East 16th Street Baptist Church; and he served as a lay minister in Delaware, Henry, and Randolph counties. Most recently he attended Old Town Hill Baptist Church. Kirby retired from Delco Battery in 1982, where he worked for over thirty years as a fork truck operator. He enjoyed buying old handsaws and wood planes and refurbishing them, going to flea markets, and collecting pocket knives. His memberships include the Whitney Masonic Lodge #229 F &AM, and U.A.W. Local #489. Survivors include his son, Donnie (wife, Carolyn) Garrett; two grandsons, Bradley (wife, Holly) Garrett, of Ft. Wayne and Stephen (wife, Shannon) Garrett, of Ft. Wayne; three great-grandchildren, Austin Garrett, Bryce Garrett, and Avery Garrett. He was preceded in death by his parents, Coy W. and Ollie Mae (Crouch) Garrett; his wife, Nellie Garrett; brother, Willie Kermit Garrett; and a sister, Treva Huddleston. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2020, at the Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304 with Pastor Bruce Reynolds officiating. There will be a Masonic Memorial Service conducted by Whitney Masonic Lodge at 1:00 p.m. Friday. Private burial will be in Elm Ridge Memorial Park. Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Elm Ridge Funeral Home. Due to the COVID19 PANDEMIC a mask is required at the visitation and services.
