Joan Short

She was born Sunday, May 25, 1941, in Helena, Tennessee, the daughter of Carlyle and Edna Johnson.

Joan graduated from Burris High School and Indiana Business College with an Associates Degree.

She had worked thirty-eight years as an insurance adjuster in property casualty insurance.

Joan was a member of the Gamma Nu Sorority and enjoyed dolls, owls, and antiques.

She is survived by her sons, Chris (Shanda) Short, Cowan, Indiana, and Kurt (Cynthia) Short, Ft. Wayne, Indiana; sister, Betty J. Harnish, Muncie, Indiana; grandchildren, Cassie Short, Jacob Short, and Sydney Short; nieces, Debbie (Ed) Harrington, Texas, and Belinda (Bill) Young, Muncie, Indiana.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; adopted mother, Agness Russell Johnson; husband, Harold Short; brother-in-law, Bob Harnish; and nephew, Greg Garrett.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nursing staff at Bethel Pointe for their care and compassion during Joan's illness.

Services will be Saturday, December 30, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304 with Matt Morley officiating.

Visitation will be at Elm Ridge Funeral Home Friday, December 29, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service.

Burial will take place immediately following the service at Beech Grove Cemetery.
