Floy “Billie” Conner, 86, of Muncie, IN, passed away on October 10, 2024. She was born on February 15, 1938, in Jamestown, TN, the daughter of the late Lee and Ellen Stephens. Growing up in a family of 12 brothers and sisters, Billie learned the importance of family from an early age, a value that remained central to her throughout her life. In 1956, she married Virgil Conner in Muncie, IN, and together they built a life filled with love, hard work, and a close-knit family.
She was known for her fun-loving nature, but she could be strong-willed and stubborn when needed—never afraid to speak her mind. Beneath it all, she had a deep, caring heart. She would do or give anything for her family and the ones she loved.
Billie was immensely proud of the big green house that she, Virgil, and their sons built—a lasting testament to their shared efforts. She took pride in her work as a courier for Osco Drug Stores, where she ensured deliveries—especially film—were always on time. Her commitment and punctuality earned her respect from those she worked with.
Family was everything to Billie. She cherished the attention and love of her family, and her heart was happiest when surrounded by them. These relationships were her most treasured possessions.
She was the kind of grandmother every child dreams of—always ready to drop everything to be there for her grandchildren whenever they needed her.
Billie loved traveling with friends and family to Memphis, TN, visiting Elvis Presley’s home, Graceland. She always had her CB radio, proudly going by the call sign “Elvis A,” a tribute that also appeared on her car’s license plate.
In addition to her husband Virgil (March 7, 2021), Billie was preceded in death by her son Larry Conner (May 29, 2014), as well as several family members.
She is survived by her loving son, Gary Conner, and his wife Toni; her grandchildren, Jennifer Murray (Brad) and Travis Conner; her great-grandchildren, Cayden Ice and Cache Murray; and her siblings, Faye Stephens, Liege Stephens, and Earlene Helton.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to The Care Team Hospice for their compassionate care during Billie’s final days.
