Christopher Spears Harper, 62, Muncie, passed away Friday afternoon, March 1, 2024, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born July 16, 1961, in Muncie, the son of Rex and Kathy (Spears) Harper. Chris attended Sutton Elementary, Franklin Middle, and Muncie Southside Schools. He loved animals, enjoyed listening to music, and was always ready to throw a barbeque in the backyard for family and friends. Chris worked as a carpenter and had worked on the railroad. He attended Union Chapel Church. Survivors include his father, Rex (wife, Debbie) Harper; three sons, Nathan Harper, Nicholas Harper, and Shane Harper; daughter, Kaley (husband, John) Miller; brother, Tom Harper; three sisters, Kelli Harper, Joey Harper, and Alexis Harper; best friends, Sara and Tim; the mother of his children, Kim (Cooper) Harper; lifelong friends, John Koger, and the Burden family; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. His mother, Kathy Harper; brother, Joe Harper; and his maternal grandparents, Clinton and Margaret Spears, preceded him in death. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304 with Pastor Glenn Greiner officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park. Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Elm Ridge Funeral Home.
