He was born on November 15, 1938 in Lake Charles and lived most of his life in Westlake and resided in Moss Bluff with his wife, Helen Fontenot. Wilson and Helen were married for 49 years. Wilson enjoyed spending time with his family, attending Blue Grass Festivals, antique car shows and enjoying his grandchildren. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Moss Bluff where he was an active member for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Planey Joseph Fontenot, Sr. and Nelise Dutel Fontenot; three brothers, Wilbert Fontenot, Henry Fontenot and Planey Joseph Fontenot, Jr.; three sisters, Rose Marie Rogers, Juanita LaFlame and Annie Mae Pettit.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his wife, Helen Fontenot; his sons, Timothy Fontenot of Moss Bluff and Gerald Fontenot of Dayton, Texas; his daughters, Jeanette Hebert and husband, David of Johnson Bayou and Jeanelle Matte and husband, Paul of Moss Bluff; Ten grandchildren, Corie Fontenot, Eric Matte, Tyler Matte, Marcus Fontenot, Blake Hebert, Kimberlynn Hebert, Nathan Fontenot, Caleb Fontenot, Cody Fontenot and Jacob Fontenot. One brother, David Fontenot of Westlake, Two sisters, Brenda Spearin of Moss Bluff and Katie Richard of Lake Charles and two adopted siblings, Robert Fontenot of San Antonio, Texas and Polly Grantham of Iowa, Louisiana.
Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. The family will receive friends Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will resume Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Westlake Memory Park Cemetery.
