Charles Ervin “Charlie” Willis, age 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by family in his home on Thursday, November 14, 2024 in Moss Bluff, Louisiana. Charlie was born on August 22, 1947 in Elizabeth, Louisiana.
Charlie was a man of great faith and love for others. He was a wonderful husband, dad, Pop, provider, brother, uncle and friend. He was a man that got great joy out of giving to others. Charlie was a phenomenal salesman and had an amazing career in sales with Dixie Supply, Contractor’s Equipment and later with RSC. He loved to tell people he could “buy you, sell you, marry you, or bury you all in twenty minutes”. He was the first pastor of Gateway Church of God in Moss Bluff where he shared his love for Jesus and people for over 20 years.
Charlie was also an outstanding auctioneer. He was very dedicated to CCA for 40 years, performing auctions all over the state, with his best friend and side kick, Mike Stillings. He was inducted into the CCA Hall of Fame for helping to raise over $10,000,000 during his time with them. He was a lifetime member, promoting them everywhere he went; even though he never fished a day in his life.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Y.O. and Macie Willis and one brother, Curtis Willis.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Connie Willis; daughters, Sharmyn Willis and Sheryl Dodson and husband, Shane; grandchildren, Jordyn Holcomb, Dylan Holcomb, and Joshua Gastineau; brother, Shirley Willis; sisters, Betty Thompson, Marlene Goss, and Wanda Hatch and husband, Mitch; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends Sunday, November 17, 2024 from 3:00 until time of service at 1st Pentecostal Church of Lake Charles followed by a Celebration of Life beginning at 5:00. Rev. Jeff Ralston, Rev. Jerod Grissom, and Rev. Terry Bushell will officiate services.
The family would like to give a very heartfelt thank you to Dr. Jody George and The SWLA Family Care Center along with Harbor Hospice and their doctors, nurses, staff and our daily aide and now friend, Tracey.
Words can never express the gratitude the family has for the love and care that has been shown to the entire family.
A private burial will be at a later date. Cremation entrusted to Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff.
