Margie Madeline Collins Shell, 87, of Morristown, TN, peacefully entered into eternal rest in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ early Sunday morning, November 3, 2024. Margie was born on June 7, 1937, to Ralph and Evelyn Lybrand in Scott, GA. She was a graduate of Condor High School in Laurens County, GA. She was a long-time employee of American Enka Company. She loved The Lord and was a lifelong member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Margie loved spending time with her family and as an avid VOL fan, spent many happy hours cheering on the Volunteers.
For much of her life she enjoyed traveling regionally, nationally, and internationally. In her later years she strove to keep an active mind through puzzles, word searches, and Scrabble. Margie loved playing Scrabble any chance she had, and enjoyed stumping her opponents with her treasure trove of obscure words. Countless hours were spent around the board with family and friends usually ending in Margie’s inevitable victory.
Faith, Family, and Country were extremely important to Margie. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of kindness, thoughtfulness and care for the multitude of friends and family she loved.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; husband, Roy V. Collins; husband, Berto L. Shell; stepson, Steve E. Shell; brother-in-law, Steve Sutton; nephew, Terry Lawson; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She is survived by two stepsons, Richard (Sharron) Shell of Frederick, MD and Timothy (Tiffany) Shell of Morristown, TN; daughter-in-law, Karen Shell of Mount Laurel, NJ; grandchildren, Trevor Shell, Christopher Shell (Elisa), Sarah Shell, Andrew Shell, and Samantha Shell; and, great granddaughter, Clementine Shell. She is also survived by two special sisters, Joyce Jennings (Earl) and Elaine Sutton; nieces, Ramona Elkins (Rick), Amy Johnson (Scott); nephews Jeff Jennings (Vonda) and Scotty Lawson; and a host of grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
A receiving of friends for Margie will be held Friday, November 8, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM with funeral services to follow at 1:00 PM. Burial immediately after In Hamblen Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that donations be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church in memory of Margie.
