Howard Sutton, age 82, of Morristown, TN went to be with his Lord and Savior, peacefully at his home on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, with his family by his bedside. He was born on April 25, 1942, in Hancock County, Tennessee, the eldest son of Dewey and Tavie Winkler Sutton. Howard was saved and baptized in March 1954 during a revival at Ida's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
In September 1967, he moved his church membership to Thankful Missionary Baptist Church and remained a faithful member. He retired from NCR after 35 plus years of employment.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Lee Roy and Troy Sutton; father and mother-in-law: Henley and Della Perry; brother-in-law: Chester Perry and sister-in-law: Goldie Collingsworth.
Howard leaves behind his loving wife of 62 years, Barbara Perry Sutton; son: Rick (Jennifer) Sutton; daughter: Rita (Eric) Wright; granddaughters: Allyson (Travis) Wice and Ashlyn Cagle (fiancé' Austin Pridemore). Also, two special twin great grandchildren: Charrlene and Boone Wice. Step granddaughters: Molley and Taylor Wright. Brother: Dayton (Julia) Sutton; sister: Imogene (James) Mabe; sister-in-law: Wanda (EJ) Stanifer; brother-in-law: Howard Perry; and several nephews, nieces, cousins and great friends.
The family is grateful for his doctors, Amedisys Hospice, Molly Waddell and everyone who has helped in any way during this time.
Visitation with his family will be Friday, Aug. 9, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Stubblefield Funeral Home with funeral services at 7:00 PM. Rev. Barry Warren and Bro. Wayland Shropshire officiating. Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024 in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
