Douglas Eugene Blair, 70, of Mooresburg, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 24, 2017, after an extended illness. Doug was born in Morristown, TN and lived in the Lakeway area his entire life. He graduated from East Tennessee School of Business and went on to work for the State of Tennessee Department of Transportation before retiring with 42 years of service. He was a faithful member of Adriel Missionary Baptist Church in Bean Station and served as bell ringer for the last several years.
Doug enjoyed camping, reading and visiting with his grandchildren often. He always had a smile on his face and never met a stranger. He was always willing to help anyone in need. He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Blair; and his parents, Melvin Blair and Mary Blair McClanahan.
Doug is survived by his son, Jason (Kristie) Blair of Madison, AL; daughter Jennifer (Tommy) Mutter of Talbott; grandchildren, Kellan and Molly Blair of Madison, AL and Nolan Mutter of Talbott; and brothers, Donald (Gwen) Blair and David (Jimmye) Blair, both of Bean Station.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. with Rev Scott Howerton and Rev Tim Collins officiating. Family and friends will meet at Big Hill Cemetery in Hawkins County on Sunday at 1:45 p.m. for a 2:00 P.M. graveside service with the Reverend Tim Collins officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Adriel Missionary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 21, Bean Station, TN 37708.
