He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Valentine Jackson, brothers Vernon and Brady and sister Verna. He was of the Holiness faith, a U.S. Army Veteran, and a retired teamster/truck driver with Roadway Express for 38 years.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley Hall-Jackson, and four children; Daughter, Shirley V. Jackson and her husband Tony B. Wolfe, Son, Charles R. Jackson and his wife Joy D. Jackson, Daughter, Paula D. Jackson, Son Phillip A. Jackson and wife Patricia Jackson, sisters; Vernice Hurley and husband Junior, and Velma Francis, and 5 grandchildren, Chrystal Lamb, Randall Jackson, Heather Livesay, Melissa Jackson, Zachery Jackson; Great-grandchildren, Audrey Jackson, Ashton (Jake) Bowlin, Jayde Lamb, Step Grandchildren; Colton, Daniel, Ericka, Ava, Brandon, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and sister-in-law Carmela Jackson.
Charles was a wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather, he was extremely generous to his family and strangers alike. He loved life and lived it to its fullest, always asserting his humorous and joking personality. Charles had a passion for his truck driving career and would have loved to continue driving the roadways to his last day were it possible. His truck driving friends and co-workers knew Charles by his C.B. Radio handle "Cherry Picker". Charles (Cherry Picker) is loved and missed by all, and now lives in the Kingdom of Heaven with our Lord Jesus Christ.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home. The Rev. Ernie Coleman will officiate. The family and friends will meet at 10:45 on Wednesday, December 28 in the Hamblen Memory Gardens for an 11:00 a.m. military graveside service to be conducted by V.F.W. Post # 5266. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday prior to the services. Stubblefield Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
