Howard Wayne Davis

Howard "Wayne" Davis, age 86, of Morganton, North Carolina passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. Wayne was born August 6, 1938 in McDowell County to the late Richard Lee Davis and Pearl Lois Hoppes Carpenter. in addition to his parents, a sister, Lois Bowman preceded him in death.

Wayne was a member of Amherst Baptist Church and loved his Lord. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed gospel singing and loved to preach. He also enjoyed being outdoors and working in the yard.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 66 years, Dolores Carson Davis of the home, daughter Rose Marie Davis of the home, daughter, Annette Sanders (Bill) of Lenoir, a granddaughter, Lanie Sanders of Lenoir, great grandson, Axton Sanders of Lenoir, step granddaughter, Heather Donaldson of Lenoir. Also surviving is a brother, Barry Davis(Rosie) of Morganton.

A funeral service will be held to honor Wayne will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Herman officiating. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Cemetery in Valdese.

The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, from 12:45 pm until 1:45 pm at Kirksey Funeral Home.
