Geraldine Clarke, 84, of Morganton, died at her home and peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, January 15, 2022 after a period of declining health. She was born to the late Woodrow and Vera Conley on June 13, 1937 in Morganton. Along with her parents, Geraldine is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years Coy Ernest Clarke and a twin brother Jesse Hunter Conley.
Geraldine grew up in Drexel and was a graduate of the Drexel High School class of 1955. She was active in the family trucking business until her retirement in 1995. She and her husband Ernest loved to travel and had a wonderful life together. Geraldine had many friends and looked forward to spending weekdays with the girls at the Burke Senior Building.
Those left behind to cherish Geraldine’s memory include her two children, Eric Clarke and his wife Teresa of Connelly Springs and Ann Clarke and her fiancé Mike Fender of Nebo; a sister, Marlene Smith and her husband Bill of Valdese; a sister-in-law, Libby Conley of Belmont; three grandchildren, Kendal Clarke Batts and her husband Bryan of Mooresville, Robbie Clarke of Connelly Springs and Lindsay Icard Moretz and her husband Dustin of Morganton; and six great grandchildren, Bailey Lowman, James Bryan Batts IV, Bodhi Batts, Maddox Moretz, Mason Moretz and Maraleigh Moretz.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 21, 2022 in the Mausoleum Chapel of Burke Memorial Park. The family suggest memorials be made to the Cleveland County Hospice, 951 Wendover Heights Dr. Shelby, NC 28150.
