Clarence Reed Jr.

Clarence Reed Jr., age 89, of Old Fort, North Carolina went to his heavenly home on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at the Charles George Veterans Medical Center in Asheville. Mr. Reed was born February 15, 1934 in Buncombe County to the late Clarence William and Elsie Penley Reed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his his wife of 51 years, Carolyn Brooks Reed a son. David Clarence Reed, a sister, Ruby Hurt, two brothers, Charles and Harold Reed.

Clarence was a proud veteran of the United States Army, and served his country proudly. Clarence was a hard worker at Parker Hosiery Mill, The Charles George VA Medical Center and Highland Farms Nursing Home as a CNA where he retired from. He also cared for his wife and his mother-in-law while they were disabled.

He loved the Lord, his family, his church family and his many friends. He was loved by all who he came in contact with. He will be remembered for being a jokester and for the big smile that was always on his face.

Those left to cherish his memory are his two children, Debbie Grant (Steve), Robert Reed (Gladys), seven grandchildren, Wesley Reed, Sabrina Banks (Jeff), Garrett Grant Robert Reed,Jr. (Elizabeth),Andre Reed, Selena Reed and Amanda Chrisawn (Alan), six great grandchildren, Savannah, Carson and Cailyn Banks, Rodney Kinser (Makayla), Kasey Cade (Austin) and one great-great grandson, Austin Jr., two brothers, Bob (Mary) and Wayne (Nanniemae) along with many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

In effort to honor his wishes, no public service will be held.
