On Wednesday, October 2, 2024, Jonathan “Magic J” Jones, Sr., gained his wings and became another one of God’s angels. Jonathan was born on August 3, 1963.
He attended Central Lafourche High School in Raceland, LA. He graduated class of 1981, where he played basketball. He attended Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, LA, until he left to serve his country in U.S. Army. He served in the Persian Gulf War.
Jonathan enjoyed traveling around the country. He was a truck driver for many years. Jonathan loved to spend time with his family. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching basketball and football. He enjoyed fishing on his downtime.
Jonathan will be sadly missed by his mother, Elnora Jones: stepfather, Melvin Smith; his children, Genel Robinson Bertini (Mikel), Letecia Wright, Jonathan Jones, Jr. and Malik Jones; sister Letecia Turley (David), niece/godchild, Ariel Turley; aunt/bonus mom, Elvina Thompkins; bonus sister, Lisa Folse Riley; bonus parents, Casey and Samantha Kittles of Georgia and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Irma Coleman and grandfather, Leonard Jones.
Jonathan lived his life to the fullest. Those who knew him and had the pleasure of being in his presence will truly miss him. This won’t be a goodbye, we shall just say “See you later, Magic.”
