Gerard ‘Jerry’ Michael LeBlanc, 75, a native of Jeanerette and a resident of Berwick passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
Jerry’s life was full of successful endeavors and events. He attended U.S.L. of Lafayette were he obtained his degree in Industrial Engineering. In 1961-1964, he worked for Shell Oil, putting his education to use. He was also the President and owner of Paul’s Agency as well as president of Jerry LeBlanc and Associates (Life/Financial Services) and Risk Managers, Inc. (Consulting facility and financial institutions). Jerry was well known in his field, having obtained in his lifetime the titles of; President of St. Mary Insurance Agents (1981), and President, Secretary, and Treasurer of I.I.A.L (1981). He was also a Board Member of I.I.A.L. for 8 years, Chairman of the Property Committee for I.I.A.L. for 8 years, Chairman of Travelers Western National Advisory Council (1989), a Council Member of Travelers Southern Region for 4 years, a member of the Aetna Agents Advisory Council and Aetna Advanced Refresher Course (1981), a member of U.S.F. & G. National Agents Council, a consultant for R.T.C, and a consultant for Fred Dent – Banking Commission (1987-1990).
Jerry was also involved in civic organizations like, the Chamber of Commerce, St. Mary Industrial Group, G.C.C.A. State Board, Advisory Board – Iberia Savings & Loan, a Chairman and Board Member of Lakewood Hospital, C.C.C.H – State Board, and Legislative Committee – I.I.A.L.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janice Chaisson LeBlanc of Berwick; two sons, Michael Gerard LeBlanc and his wife, Heidi Feltch LeBlanc, of Destin, FL., and Scott John LeBlanc and his wife, Mandy Vauclin LeBlanc, of Houma; and a daughter, Michelle LeBlanc Porth and her husband, Charles Richard Porth II, of Sugar Land, TX.; one brother, Kenneth LeBlanc of Thibodaux; and seven grandchildren, Ashley Elizabeth LeBlanc, Alan Michael LeBlanc, Brandon Charles Porth, Madison Michelle Porth, Kirsty Michelle Richard, Elizabeth Marie LeBlanc, and Alayna Claire LeBlanc.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Eli LeBlanc; his mother, Olive Olivier LeBlanc Junca; and his step father, Hugh Junca; his father-in-law, James Chaisson; and his mother-in-law, Aggeline Smith Chaisson.
The family requests that visitation be observed Wednesday, February 8, 2012 from 6pm to 9pm at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City. A rosary will be prayed, Wednesday February 8th at 7:30pm. Visitation will resume on Thursday, February 9th at 8am until time of services at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morgan City.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, February 9th at 10am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morgan City with graveside services following in the Morgan City Cemetery.
