George Murphy Anderman

George Muphy Anderman, a native and lifelong resident of Morgan City, was called to his heavenly home on Friday, December 6, 2024 at the age of 64. George was a loving husband, father, and grandfather whose kindness, intelligence, and strength in principle will forever be remembered by those privileged to have known this great man.

George’s life was defined by a deep love for family, home, and good food. He believed that these simple joys were the foundation of happiness, and they were always at the center of his world. But perhaps what truly set George apart was his generosity. He had an incredible knack for recognizing when someone was in need and was quick to offer help, whether it was a listening ear, a kind word, or lending a hand. George had a unique talent for noticing the smallest details—whether it was the sleek lines of a classic car or the craftsmanship in a child’s pair of shoes. His ability to see beauty in the everyday was something that made him special.

Though he often called himself a "jack of all trades, master of none," those who knew him understood just how committed he was to every task he took on. Once George started a project, he wouldn’t stop until it was done, and done perfectly. He may not have sought fame or accolades, but George’s dedication to his work was unmatched.

His career journey began early, fueled by a determination to be the best. A top student, George went on to become a Certified General Motors mechanic, a career that reflected his natural aptitude for fixing and building things. He started working at a local car dealership as a teenager and continued in the full-service station business well into his early 40s. But George’s heart always longed for the open road, and in his 50s, he pursued his dream of driving trucks, a job he held for more than 20 years. In his later years, he returned to his first love: cars. Managing an automotive store, George was once again surrounded by the things that brought him joy.

He was a familiar face in the community, always eager to chat with friends over a cup of coffee. From fixing cars to discussing the latest political happenings, George could talk about almost anything. His natural curiosity and wide-ranging interests made every conversation with him an enriching experience. Above all, George’s life was a testament to hard work, kindness, and the love of simple pleasures, and those who knew him will always remember the warmth he brought into the world.

Those left to cherish George's wonderful memory is his wife and companion for over 21 years, Mary Newton Anderman; his daughters, Carlyn Tappin and Taylor Steen and her husband, Cody; his sons, Sean Anderman and his companion, Tonita, and Devin Tappin and his wife, Kayla and two grandchildren, Kaylynn Anderman and Kennedy Steen. He is also survived by his brother, Jody Anderman and his wife, Leah, and two nephews, Kyle and Austin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Anderman and Connie Ratcliff Anderman.

A time of memorial visitation will be held for George on Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 12:00 noon until time of services which will begin at 3:00 pm at Hargrave Funeral Home. Dismissal will follow the services.
