Donald took pride in serving the residents of St. Mary Parish as a co-founder and owner of several gas stations in the area, with Berwick's Texaco being the most well-known and frequently visited. He had a deep affection for the beautiful Smoky Mountains, often embarking on spontaneous trips to Tennessee to enjoy their scenery. A passionate enthusiast of classic cars and hot rods, Donald relished attending car shows whenever he could. Known for his direct and headstrong nature, his loud presence made it clear when he was in the room—he always knew what he wanted.
Those left to cherish Donald's wonderful memory are his three sons, Ronald "Ron" Vining and his wife, Lisa, of Bush, Gary Vining & Kelly Vining of Bayou Vista, and Blake Dakota Kirby Vining and his fiance, Melinda Hebert, of Patterson; one brother, Tracy Vining and Julie, of Bayou Vista; three grandchildren, Kody Vining, Tyler Vining, and Branden Vining.
He was reunited in heaven with his parents, Sterling and Essie Vining; one brother, Sterling "Pal" Vining; and one sister, Jerryleen "Pat" Plaisance.
The family requests that a time of visitation be observed on Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 10am until time of services at 1pm at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City, LA. A celebration of Donald's life will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 1pm at Hargrave Funeral Home with Brother James Kyle officiating. Following services, Donald will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
Those acting as pallbearers will be Kody Vining, Tyler Vining, Branden Vining, Blake Vining, Larry Morgan, and Lester "Joe" Orr.
