William Clarence Moore Sr.

William C. Moore, better known as Bill, age 95, passed away January 17, 2022, at Arbor Springs Rehabilitation Center in Opelika. He was born on January 23, 1926, to Leon Pendley and Mittie Finley Moore, of Montgomery. Mr. Moore was a lifelong resident of Montgomery and spent the last few years at John Knox Assisted Living until moving in August to The Harbor at Opelika, where he entertained all who entered his room. After a recent surgery, he was moved to Arbor Springs for rehab.

Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Mittie; his loving wife of 50 years, Betty Caraway Moore; brother, Bob (and Louise) Moore, Montgomery; and brother, Phillip (and Mary) Moore, of Ozark.

He is survived by his daughter, Debbie "Pidge" Jones (Grant), Montgomery; son, Billy (William C. Jr.) Moore (Connie "Dove") of Opelika; his grandchildren; Reverend Jeremy Jones (Crystal) of Deatsville; Crystal Nicole Moore, Atlanta; Michael William Moore of Auburn. Mr. Moore is also survived by his great grandchildren Abbi and Lilli Jones, along with a special sister-in-law, Patricia Renfro (Bob), and many other loving family members.

Mr. Moore was a World War II veteran, and was the Business Manager of Pensions and Security for the State of Alabama, where he retired after 30 years. He was a lifelong member of the Montgomery Exchange Club and served in many capacities during his years there, as he loved helping and giving to others. He was a member of Heritage Baptist Church and enjoyed attending until his wife became ill. Mr. Moore was known for his generosity, his honesty, and his crazy sense of humor. He always saw the positive in everything, and even had nicknames for his family members... he was loved by many. He will be greatly missed.

A family graveside service for Bill will be held Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Alabama Heritage Cemetery, 10505 Atlanta Hwy., Montgomery, AL 36117
