Virginia Irene Maddox Evans passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the age of 76. She was preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her children, John A. Maddox; her parents, Nancy T. and John A. Thornton; and her siblings, Lamar Thornton, Ray Thornton, U.V. Carrol, and Bobby Thornton. She is survived by her husband, William L. Evans; her two sons, John A. Maddox, Jr., Jay A. Maddox; her granddaughter, Jade Maddox Dierksheide (Caleb); great grandchildren, Kale McClellan, Jayden and Aubrey Dierksheide; her sister, Christine Wilson; and her brother, Ralph Thornton.
Virginia was a loving mother and grandmother and was a faithful member of Eastern Meadows Church of Christ. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, from 4:00-5:00pm at Leak Memory Chapel and on Thursday, January 30, 2020, at 10:00am with a chapel service to follow at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
