She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Nanny Auxie (King) Hill of Mississippi; her husband of 59 years, Richard T. Pastorett; and her brother, Noel B. Warren of Mississippi.
She is survived by her children, Becky Sweet (Steve), Mary Duffy (Keith), Julie McCardle (Tom), Christie Pastorett, and Richard Pastorett Jr.; her grandchildren, Daniel Duffy, Kevin Duffy, Andrew Duffy, Joey Sweet, Jessie Sweet, Nicole (McCardle) Grohe, Caitlin McCardle, and Michael Pastorett; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Tomma Pastorett was born in rural Bethany/Baldwyn Mississippi and loved school, so she pursued her education and earned her high school diploma at Smithville High, and went on to Itawamba Junior College. After earning her Associate's degree, she transferred to Mississippi State where she earned her Bachelor of Science (English) degree. She then transferred to Florida State University, where she earned her Masters of Library Science degree and also met her future husband, Richard. They married in 1957, and both pursued careers in academia (civilian and D.O.D. civil service). She worked more than 27 years at Air University Library, Maxwell A.F.B. She passed away peacefully in her home and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. The family would like to extend thanks to Gentiva Hospice for all of their care and help.
A visitation for Tomma will be held Monday, December 11, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at White Chapel-Greenwood Funeral Home, 909 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.
