Sonja Rose Taylor passed away on September 16, 2011, at the age of 73, following a long battle with cancer. She was born in Wilson, Oklahoma, on March 28, 1938, to Clyde Marion Culbreth, Sr., and Velma Lee Pearce Culbreth, who preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Clyde Marion Culbreth, Jr., Lloyd Gayle Culbreth, King Culbreth, Patty Lenora Doty, Ted Carroll Culbreth; and great-grandson, Christopher Henderson. Sonja is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Don Taylor; children, Pam Taylor Ramos and David Taylor; grandchildren, Taryn (Zach) Bergen, Matt (Corey) Henderson, and Rebekah Taylor; great-grandson, Diesel Bergen (and two on the way); nephews Steve, Mike, and Doug Henning, Greg, Dan and Brad Dillon, Jeff Taylor, and Edward King Culbreath; and nieces Cheryl Barrett and Tammy Standridge and many great nieces and nephews.
Sonja was co-owner of the Taylor Insurance Agency, which she founded with Don in 1992. She was active in many social and charitable organizations, including Wynlakes Women’s Club and First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Her Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 24, at First Christian Church, 1705 Taylor Road, at 10:30 a.m., followed by her Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. There will be a graveside service on Monday, September 26, at National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL, at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society (1800-ACS-2345) and to the First Christian Church Capital Fund.
