Robert Speight Sr passed away peacefully on October 1st at home surrounded by loving family. He moved to Montgomery from Rocky Mount NC in 1959. Served in the Army 82nd Airborne Division and retired from American Telephone & Telegraph as a Toll Supervisor. He was a member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church and coached YMCA football. Robert was also a volunteer at Brantwood Children’s Home, active in the Boys Scouts of America as Scoutmaster and Leadership Trainer in Woodbadge (4 beader) and Woodlore,. Robert was a member of Order of Arrow and received leadership awards including District Award of Merit. His hobbies after retirement were woodworking, hunting, fishing, bowling, and enjoying his grand and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents Seth Speight and Elizabeth Adcock Speight. Brothers Buddy and Frank ; Sisters: Helen and Zelma
He is survived by wife Wanda T. Speight, sons Robby Speight, Jr (Jennifer), Douglas Speight (Fiancée Brooke), daughter Sandy Shaw (Ronnie). Grandchildren: Trey, Shea, Griffin (Reagan), Kayla (Dustin), Kristen (Kenny). Great Grandchildren: Jackson, Vivian, Harper, Hamp, Hank, Hazel, Ella, and Hattie. He also leaves behind his dog Cruiser, his loyal friend.
A Celebration of Life Graveside for Robert will be held Sunday, October 9, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Greenwood Cemetery.
