Mr. Cobb was preceded in death by his parents, John and Estelle Cobb of Montgomery; his wife of 40 years, Libbie Pope Cobb, his 2nd wife, Joanne Hilyer Cobb, and recently, his 3rd wife of 11 years, June Johnson Cobb.
He is survived by his son, Johnny (Janet) Cobb of Mobile, Al.; daughter, Margie(Billy) McLendon of Snowdoun, Al.; three grandchildren, Stacie McLendon, Mike McLendon and Bethany (Bobby) Cobb Faulk; stepdaughter, Robin (Bob) Beckman of Loretto, Tennessee; step grandchildren, Kenny Beckman and Samantha Beckman.
Mr. Cobb graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in 1946. As a member of the track team, he was on a relay team, which won a state championship his senior year, which he proudly told us about several times over the years. He served in the U.S. Army in 1951-1952 in South Korea. He worked 36 years with the phone company (Southern Bell and AT&T). He was also a member of the Air National Guard. He loved coaching youth baseball, cheering on Auburn football and the Atlanta Braves. He and his first wife Libbie, were charter members of Perry Hill United Methodist Church in 1957.
Robert Cobb never met a stranger and he loved to laugh! He basically just loved life. He and his wife June enjoyed their last years on this earth together laughing and they especially loved eating at Cracker Barrel and Hamburger King.
