Richard Calvin Alexander, 68, residing in Montgomery, AL passed away on 4/4/2023 surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born in Anchorage, AK and was raised in Schwenksville, PA. He was the son of Robert Calvin and Lucy Ann Alexander. Richard (Rick) Alexander was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who always put God first in all he did. He was a retired CMSGT of the USAF and was a member of Christian Life Church in Montgomery, AL
Rick leaves behind his Spouse, Irma Nydia Alexander, whom he met in Spokane Washington while they worked at the Officer’s Club. Irma’s father was a member of the US Military stationed in the Panama Canal Zone. Rick followed his true love to the Panama Canal Zone before marrying in 1977; they were proudly married for 45 years. They later moved back to Spokane Washington before being reassigned to Charleston, SC where they welcomed their first child, Richard Ryan Alexander. Their next station was Anchorage Alaska and their second child, Lilah Harris was born in the same hospital Rick was born in 27 years earlier. They then spent a few years in Utah before moving to Alabama, where Rick retired from the United States Air Force as a Chief Master Sargent (CMSGT). During his time in the Military, Rick had a wide array of specialties ranging from optometry to teaching and project management. He had the opportunity to be the project manager for the construction of the Officer’s Training School at Maxwell Air Force Base, which was undoubtedly one of his proudest career accomplishments. He later worked at Defense Information Systems (DISA) on Maxwell Air Force Base following his military service before retiring in 2018. While he was proud of his career, his primary focus was God and his family. He was loving, caring, compassionate, kind, and he never met a stranger. Birthdays and Holidays were important to him. Birthdays would always be acknowledged first-thing in the morning and there would always be a card. He always wanted his family around and especially for the holidays. He was the grill master and always made sure there was plenty of food for everyone. He always insisted on taking photos at family gatherings; he wanted to cherish the memories forever. He always put others above himself and ensured his family was well taken care of.
Rick is survived by his spouse Irma Nydia Alexander; his children: Richard Alexander and his wife Rebecca, Lilah Harris and her husband Craig; Grandchildren, Leya Duncan, Catalina Alexander, Evangeline Alexander, Gabriella and Hannah Harris, and 5 great grandchildren; his siblings of Pennsylvania; Lucy Ann Centafont and her spouse Rich, Twin Sister-Patricia Kratz and her husband Rodney, Cathy Smith and her husband Norman, and Ronald Alexander and his wife Kimberly. Richard is well loved and will be greatly missed by all.
