Peggy Faye Shepherd

Peggy Faye Shepherd, age 82, of Mathews, Alabama passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022. Peggy was born March 20, 1939, to Kenneth Chastain and Louise Chastain. She is preceded in death by her parents; her son Michael David Shepherd; her brother Norton Chastain and her granddaughter Hayley Bell.

Peggy is survived by her husband Ralph Kermit Shepherd Jr.; her children Mark (Holly) Shepherd, Beth Shepherd and Randy Shepherd; her brothers Dick (Sally) Chastain, Rick (Cindy) Chastain; her grandchildren Adam (Avery) Shepherd, Emme and Maddie Shepherd, and Avery Varon; and her great granddaughter Charli Ingram; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Peggy grew up in a coal mining camp called Black Diamond near Bessemer, Alabama. She graduated from Hueytown High School and went to work for a lawyer. On a trip with friends to Panama City Beach, she met the love of her life that led to 62 years of marriage. Peggy, an avid Alabama fan, loved going to football games, cooking, shopping and taking care of her family. Peggy was always active in church and made sure her children were in attendance. Peggy was loved by many and had many friends. Later in life, her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She will be missed by many and everyone who knew her was blessed by her fun-loving spirit.

A graveside service for Mrs. Shepherd will be held Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 9504 US Hwy 331, Snowdoun, Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Montgomery Area Food Bank. The family would like to thank Dr. Bethene, Dr. Lynn and several nurses at Jackson Hospital that took excellent care of our mother during her brief stay.
