When I heard about Pat's death, I contacted several people who had moved away but knew Pat from UUFM.  I got several responses about what a wonderful person he was but here is one from Charlie Suhor:  "I grew to know Pat as a deep, bright, compassionate, and warmly communicative person."
Deborah Little:  "He was such a kind and gentle and brilliant man."
I really got to know Pat when we served on the Ministerial Search Committee together.  He would sit quietly and listen to us discuss the topic, not respond to the discussion and then suddenly say, "In my opinion."  We knew his opinion was always well thought out, reasonable and got us back on track.
I knew him as an intelligent, warm hearted family man whose face would light up when talking about his grandkids.  He had a great sense of humor and would stand up for whatever cause he believed in.  Al and I had many dinners and attended many plays with Pat and Rhonda.  We'll miss him.

I love my Uncle Pat and cherish our many memories and lively discussions about politics and even vegetarianism. His one concern was whether, at 13, I'd get enough B12, which I didn't, resulting in low scoring lab tests - until the impossible burger was invented a few years ago. I never got to tell him that it has 133% of recommended B12 and 2300% of B1, which I think would have made him happy and help to allay his concerns for my health.  He was a very smart, loving, and kind uncle that always made me feel valued, no matter my age or the topic of discussion. He greeted me with a big hug and a smile and always seemed to have a positive and gentle manner. He and my dad had a close friendship that mirrored my family's relationship with the Thomasons, and we will all miss him dearly. I am sorry to be so far away as to not be able to attend his funeral, but I will see the family in the Fall or during the Winter holidays.

I will always remember Pat as a truly great man. He has all the qualities. He is both an intellectual and emotionally intelligent. He is responsible, honest, trustworthy, kind, and loving.  He ranks at the top of all the men  I have ever known in my lifetime. My life is better just having known him. Though my own life struggles have gotten in my way, I will never forget this man who always showed me kindness and love.   I am thinking of Rhonda, Jennifer, Amy (Jimmy) and all his loved ones. My heart is aching for you. I send you all the love and peace  during your suffering.  God is with all of you. Always, Connie

Pat and Rhonda were two of my favorite people at UUFM. Pat was a great source of knowledge and help regarding the fellowship and Rhonda was a great source of comfort and help regarding my children. I will miss Pat dearly. Rhonda, my heart breaks for you and I hope to see you soon to hug you deeply.

My prayers and condolences go out to Pat’s family and loved ones. He was such a nice man and had a way of making everyone in his presence feel welcome. I only had the privilege of knowing him for about a year through the UU Church, but he felt like a genuine friend from the start and I will always remember and miss him

Pat was such a wonderful, kind, and funny person. I will miss him. He was someone I think of as an example of a good man. I always considered his relationship with Rhonda, who he so clearly adored, to be the kind of relationship I hope to have and keep in my marriage. I am so sorry for your loss. I am grateful that I got to know Pat while he was here.

I live in Seagrove where Pat and Rhonda have a cottage right across the street from my house.  I’ve known them since 1998. Pat would pack up his beach chair and walk to the beautiful gulf where he would watch the sunset and enjoy his family. He left us in his  favorite sweet spot. He was a quiet , thoughtful, loving husband, neighbor and friend. I enjoyed having them as neighbors, sitting on their porch talking about local matters. I will miss seeing him headed to the gulf but I’m sure he is enjoying the majestic waters of heaven.

I remember meeting him at the beach at Sunset. And told me ,"This is my church" . Uncle Pat was the most kind and compassionate man. I love him.
