Ola Phelps Sponsler passed away peacefully on 17 June 2019 at the age of 95. She was the youngest daughter of John Taylor and L.V. Phelps. She was preceded in death by husband William Robert Sponsler and sisters Hesta Green and Doris Fender. She was born in Florida and spent her childhood throughout southern Florida. She graduated from business college in Montgomery Alabama. She met William Robert Sponsler, who served in the Air Force, while in business college. They married prior to WWII. After the war they spent several years in Alaska, Tennessee, and South Carolina before returning to Montgomery. Mrs. Sponsler worked for the Armed Forces Recruiting Command until her retirement. She loved to travel and visited countries around the world.
She is survived by son Ronald Sponsler and wife Lynn, grandson Matt Sponsler and wife Brandy, granddaughter Amy Sleeman and husband Justin, great grandchildren Shawn Sponsler, Jackson Sleeman, Abigail Sponsler, Anna Sleeman, nieces Catherine Underwood and Carolyn Larsen, and great nephews Jim Underwood, Bobby Underwood, and Rusty Larsen.
A graveside service will be held at noon at Greenwood Serenity Memorial Gardens, 909 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, Alabama 36109.
