Mary Claire Sellers, 92, passed away on August 14, 2020. She was born on January 13, 1928, in Georgianna, Alabama to Clara and Earl Watson. She graduated from Georgianna High School. She married the love of her life, Haywood Winston Sellers, on August 18, 1951 in Montgomery, Alabama. Mary Claire worked for the State of Alabama until her retirement. She was actively involved in her church for her entire adult life and was a member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church. She enjoyed flowers and gardening as well as attending estate sales and maintaining a booth for many years at the Eastbrook Flea Market. She was a wonderful cook, and took great joy in preparing meals for her family and friends. She delighted in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary Claire had a kind and gentle spirit, and exemplified devotion to God and family. She was a gracious, sweet lady, who put others first, worked hard, and loved well. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years. She is survived by her children, Sherry Fite (Bob) of Decatur, Alabama, Kim Sellers (Betty Kay) of Destin, Florida, and Hayden Sellers (Leah) of Millbrook, Alabama; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty McGraw, and a brother, Gray Watson (Judy), both of Montgomery, Alabama; a sister-in-law, Blanche Bounds, of Warner Robbins, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at 10AM in Greenwood Cemetery in Montgomery, Alabama. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, J. Robert Fite, Winston Sellers Fite, Jacob Claxton and Dawson Owens and family friends, Allen Deese and Max Gantt. Memorials may be made to Eastern Hills Baptist Church. The family would like to thank the staff of Riverside Senior Living in Decatur, Alabama and Dr. Scott Matthews for the excellent care he provided.
