Martha Anna Shirley, age 86, passed away on Wednesday December 11, 2019. Martha was born March 28, 1933 in Parrish, Alabama. She was a longtime resident of Hope Hull and worked for Winn Dixie in the Montgomery home office as manager of their Human Resources Department for more than 30 years. A long standing member of First Southern Baptist Church of Hope Hull, who enjoyed watching t.v., working crossword puzzles and cross stitching.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James Grover Shirley; parents, Lonnie and Leora Alcorn; her sister, Ruth Hithcox; son-in-law, Ben George; and grandchild, Erika George.
Mrs. Shirley is survived by one son, James Patrick Shirley (Pam) , and her husband James' three daughters, Christine George, Carol Farr (Charlie) and Cherie Scott; her grandchildren, Patrick Shirley (Skyler); Hannah Shirley Rawlinson (Andrew); Alyson George Usher (Hank) ; Natalie George Fleming(Adam); Andy Farr; Rachel Farr Krauss (Tim); and nieces, Renee Lehr and Sharon Hithcox Engle; as well as many great grandchildren.
A visitation for Martha will be held Wednesday, December 18, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 11:00 AM at Greenwood Serenity Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Martha's memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
