Margaret was born and raised in Elmore, Alabama. She graduated from Wetumpka High School in May of 1950. She worked at City Drug in Montgomery, Alabama until she retired. She then went on to work at the Montgomery Advertiser in the Classified section. She was a member of Reformation Presbyterian Church in Pike Road. Her Christ-like personality and inviting spirit made her very involved in her church, in Bible study, and the weekly special occasion card ministry. She was also a member of the Retired Officers’ Wives Club. She loved to read and was extremely family-oriented. She will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James W. and Jessie Perkins Peddy; her brothers, Harmon Glenn Peddy and James Hester Peddy; her sister-in-law, Mary Lovett Peddy; her niece, Margaret Peddy Beck; and her husband, Lt. Col. William Edward Skinner, Sr.
Family she is also survived by includes Elizabeth Skinner Parsons, Mary Skinner, Bill Skinner, Margaret Skinner Nichols, a host of grandkids and great-grandkids, and her caretaker of 6 years, Lorna McElrath-Allen.
She is survived by her sister, Doris Peddy Beatty; her niece, Carolyn Peddy Bryan; and her great nieces and nephews, Blake Bryan, Katherine Berry, Mary Margaret Dorow, and Elizabeth Vandiver.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Margaret’s memory to New Home Baptist Church, 5130 Elmore Road, Wetumpka, AL 36092 or Reformation Presbyterian, 9299 Vaughn Road, Pike Road, AL 36064.
A visitation for Margaret will be held Friday, December 8, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Mt. Hebron West Baptist Church, 150 Mt. Hebron Rd, Elmore, AL 36025.
