Luther Zeagler Rosser, 99, of Montgomery, Alabama, formerly of Gadsden, Alabama, peacefully passed away on October 10, 2024. Born on September 30, 1925, in LaGrange, Georgia, Luther was the beloved son of Warren A. Rosser and Myrtle Young Rosser. His family relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, where he spent his youth and graduated from Boys High School.
At the age of seventeen, Luther answered the call to serve his country in World War II, serving both in the Merchant Marines and the United States Navy. After the war, he embarked on a distinguished career in the insurance industry, where he earned his Certified Licensed Underwriter (CLU) certification. For many years, he served as the agency director for Life of Alabama Insurance Company in Gadsden, Alabama, guiding countless clients with wisdom and integrity.
Luther’s life was filled with simple joys, including his love for golf and fishing. As a member of the Gadsden Country Club, he spent cherished hours on the greens and on the waters of the Coosa River, where he shared his passion for bass fishing with friends and family.
Luther is preceded in death by his parents, Warren A. Rosser and Myrtle Young Rosser, his brother, Warren A. Rosser Jr., and his sister-in-law, Frances Rosser.
He is lovingly remembered by his sons, Luke Finkelstein (Jane) and John Finkelstein, and his grandchildren, Ashley Williams (Brian), Tyler Finkelstein, Lacey Dodwell (Richard), and Clay Finkelstein (Rachel). Luther’s legacy of love and faith extends to his eight great-grandchildren: Avery Williams, Sydney Anne Williams, Jessie Williams, Luke Williams, Henry Dodwell, Abraham Dodwell, Holly Finkelstein, and Rosser Finkelstein.
A graveside service will be held on October 15, 2024, at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home, 10505 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, AL 36117. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. Luther’s life was a testament to faith, resilience, and love. As we celebrate his homegoing, we take comfort in the words of Jesus: “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live.” (John 11:25)
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all acts of kindness be directed to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 3828 Mt. Zion Road, Ramer, AL, 36080.
