Dr. Lou Harris, 80 a resident of Mathews, Alabama and loving husband and father, passed away on December 20, 2022.
Lou was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Bertie Harris; and brother Larry Harris. He is survived by his wife Nancy, children Andy Harris (Shea), Julie Ericson, Amy Ryan, Taran Tucker (Randy), Tret Johnson, and granddaughter Nichole Fussell (Luke) who was more like a daughter to him. 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Brother Randy Harris (Becky), sister-in-law Paula Harris and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lou was in the Navy for 4 years. FBI as a special agent for 25 years, he established the Criminal Justice department at Faulkner University and was a tenured professor for 24 years. He continued teaching law enforcement officers until last year. Lou touched many lives and loved making a difference through education. He was a member of numerous organizations such as: Institution for Criminal Justice Education, Inc., Alabama Sentencing Commission, Alabama Crime Prevention Clearinghouse AUM, and Montgomery Alabama Police Academy, Adjunct Police Instructor.
Lou loved the outdoors and participated in numerous marathons, triathlons, bike and running events. He loved hiking, walking, and enjoying nature.

Memorial Service at Vaughn Park Church of Christ on Tuesday December 27, 2022 at 10 am. Family will have visitation 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after the service.
