DALEY, Kay Marlene, was called home on September 28, 2022. Kay is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James Daley, and her brother, Ed Anderson. She is survived by daughter Angela (Robert) Marunowski; son Shawn (Mary) Daley; daughter Melissa (Will) Gallo; her grandchildren Cameron Egdorf, Connor James Daley, Benjamin Egdorf, and Kaylee Marunowski; brother-in-law Russ (Heather) Daley; sister-in-law Rosemary (Gene) Eike; several nieces; and many close friends.
Born on May 14, 1948, to Lila and Charles Anderson, Kay grew up in Montezuma, Iowa. She began her long and rewarding vocation as a registered nurse in 1968. After many moves both foreign and stateside as a military spouse, Kay moved to Miami in 1990 where she began work at Baptist Children's Hospital. She worked in the Pediatric ICU until her retirement in 2014. Her attention to detail and skill level as a health care provider was surpassed only by her compassion for her patients. She mentored many up-and-coming nurses and could always be counted on as a valued coworker and empathetic supervisor.
Although caring for patients was her calling and lifelong career, her greatest passion was her family. She was giving, nurturing, and loving to a fault, always encouraging and willing to lend her support. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy - she reveled in their interests and happily celebrated their accomplishments.
Kay was a very social person, maintaining relationships from her school days while making new friends at her most recent home in Montgomery, Alabama. She was very involved in almost all activities at The Crossings at EastChase, particularly the Resident's Council, Bell Choir, and Bingo, where she raked in her fair share of winnings.
She will be well and truly missed.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation on Saturday, October 8th starting at two in the afternoon in Heritage Hall at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home 10505 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, Alabama 36117 with a celebration of life to begin at three.
