McCALMAN, Joy Langford, 91, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2014. Joy was born in Winnsboro, Louisiana on February 14, 1923. She married the love of her life, Mac McCalman, September 27, 1941. They were married for 68 years when he passed away in 2009. She was a true “Southern Lady” who could run a vacuum wearing lipstick, high heels, stockings and a beautiful outfit she made herself. Her chocolate cake and icing was hands down the best around and was frequently requested for birthdays. She loved people and showed a genuine interest in everyone she met. She was a member of Frazer Memorial United Methodist Church. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, John D. McCalman. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ron McCalman (Ellen), daughter, Connie M. Thompson, daughter-in-law, Phyllis McCalman; grandchildren, Ron McCalman (Rebecca), Christy McCalman, April Milby (Alan), Amy Castleberry (Brian), Tiffany Beasley (John); great-grandchildren Porter McCalman, Janie Grace Szoboszlay, Payton, Cole and Cameron Milby, Kaitlyn and Allison Castleberry, Brooklyn Wilkes and Waylon Beasley. Visitation will be held at Leak-Memory Chapel at 2:00pm. Sunday, June 22. Graveside service to follow at 3:00pm officiated by Reverend Tim Thompson.
Pallbearers will be Brian Castleberry, Kenneth Duke, David Wood, Ron McCalman, Alan Milby and Randy Weldon. The family would like to extend their heart-felt gratitude to her caregivers and Amedisys Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Frazer Memorial United Methodist Church Senior Adult Ministry, 6000 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, AL 36117.
