John Halbert Wilson, Jr., 90, a resident of Crowne Nursing Facility and former resident of Angels for The Elderly, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012. Born in Crenshaw County, he was preceded in death by his parents John H. Wilson, Sr. and Alice Rucker Wilson; one brother and one sister, and wife, Mary Kate Wilson. He was a US Armed Forces Veteran of WWII. Survivors include his sons, John H. Wilson, III of Panama City Beach, FL and Jim (Melinda) Wilson of Hoschton, GA; daughters, Sherry (Donnie) Boyd of La Pine, AL and Cindy (David) Phillips of Montgomery, AL; sons, Billy Brents of TN; Bob (Pearl) Brents of Millbrook, AL; David (Joyce) Brents of Atlanta, GA; Paul (Linda) Brents of Jacksonville, FL; and sisters Doris McCullough of Montgomery, AL and Hazel Cousins of Millbrook, AL; 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Visitation will be at White Chapel Funeral Home today, Friday, July 28, 2012 at noon, with a service in the chapel at 1pm, officiated by Pastor Rick Evans. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery immediately after the service with military honors being rendered. The family would like to invite all who attend, a serving of Nancy’s Italian Ice, which will be served at graveside in the cemetery after the service, in memory of Mr. Wilson. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Don Boyd, Mike Hicks, Jonathan Phillips and great grandson Clay Boyd; sons-in-law Donnie Boyd and David Phillips. Honorary pallbearers will be WWII Veterans from Btry C 104th AAAAW Battalion, Albert “Bert” Fowler, Dorsey Jeffcoat, Thomas W. Jordan, Sam Weed, and Comer Hawkins. The family asks that you remember the US Veterans that have passed and pray for our US Military serving our country at the present. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home or one’s favorite charity. White Chapel Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
