John Morgan Foshee, Jr., a resident of Montgomery, Alabama died on October 30th, 2018 at the age of 67 at his favorite place on earth, Rover Hills Farm. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Josephine G. Foshee, son Golson M. Foshee (Lauren), son John H. Foshee (Angela), and two grandchildren, McRae and Josephine Foshee.
John graduated from Gainesville High School in 1969 and attended several colleges, including the University of Florida. There, he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and played on the baseball team. After meeting Josephine on a blind date, he transferred to Huntingdon College and graduated in 1973.
He was heavily involved in Montgomery real estate from 1973 until the time of his death. He went to work with his Father at Foshee Builders, and later founded and lead Foshee Management Company.
He has been active in the community and in support of his church. He served as Commissioner of the Southeastern Dixie Youth Baseball League and coached numerous youth baseball, football and basketball teams. He also served on many boards including the United Way, The Boys and Girls Clubs of the River Region, YMCA and Salvation Army. John worshiped at First United Methodist Church in Montgomery and served in several leadership capacities over the years. He was most proud of his involvement in Respite, a ministry that provides fellowship and stimulation for people who have memory loss due to Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s disease or stroke.
John had a passion for hunting and fishing, playing golf, tending to his farm and doing nice things for others, often without fanfare. He loved to spend time with family and friends, and was very thankful to have several close friends that stood by his side throughout his life. He also thoroughly enjoyed bossing around his two children, spoiling his grandchildren and telling inappropriate jokes to everyone he met.
Pallbearers are Vic Canerday, Beau Daniel, Henry Golson, John Louis Golson, Don Harris, Arthur Lee, William Martin, Joe Pierce, Randy Williams, Winston Sheehan and Jim Solomons.
There will be a private graveside service. Friends are invited to gather for a memorial service at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 2nd at First United Methodist Church. Visitation will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Respite Ministry at First United Methodist Church.
