He leaves behind his loving wife, Martha Ann Dye of 64 years and his five children, Jacquelyn Dixon Swain(Mike); Sonya Dye Allison(Charles); Cheryl Kendrick(Eddy); Daphne Stewart(Jerry -deceased); and Jesse Dye Jr.(Amy). As well as all the 12 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Morris "Skippy" Dye, of Macon Tennessee.
Murry was born in Memphis Tennessee, the son of Jesse and Zola Dye. He worked in the Dye Family business (Memphis Silo) for a number of years before moving to Montgomery, Alabama to continue expanding the family business, and form his own company (Dye Enterprises Inc). Murry built silos throughout Alabama and Georgia for more than 40 years. If you are out driving and happen to see a silo, tip your hat to Murry - it just might be one he built. Murry was a man with many loves such as hunting and fishing, being outdoors and gardening, cooking and helping in the kitchen, and watching his favorite Alabama football team play. He also raised and sold lovebirds, and loved spending time with his family. Murry was a Christian and baptized at the age of 14 on an Easter Sunday. He served his Lord as a deacon at Snowdoun Baptist church.
Prior to marrying Martha, Murry joined the army and served in the Korean War. He was a front line truck driver in support of his fellow soldiers.
There will be many stories to remember and most will begin with "do you remember the time that Murry...".
Murry was a colorful character especially when he was around all his brothers, sister and family during the years. Tall tales and laughter were a big part of Murry's fun loving ways.
There will be a visitation for Mr. Dye Monday, February 28th from 4:00pm – 6:00pm at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home
