James Warren Keith (Jim), age 76 of Hope Hull, passed from this life on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at his daughter's home in Vestavia Hills after a brief battle with cancer. Jim was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on March 14, 1946. He graduated from Tuscaloosa High School in 1964 and attended the University of Alabama where he received a degree in Civil Engineering in 1970. After graduation, he moved to Montgomery and began working for the Department of Transportation (ALDOT). He worked there as a Professional Engineer in Research & Development for over 30 years.
He met Rebecca Smalley (Becky) at The University of Alabama and they married in 1971. They lived in Hope Hull for their 51 years of marriage. Jim was a faithful Christian and member of the Perry Hill Road Church of Christ where he served as a deacon for many years. He was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed woodworking, working on cars, doing projects around their house and property and spending time with their dogs.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Fannie Keith. He is survived by his wife, Becky Smalley Keith of Hope Hull; his daughter Kerri Michelle Keith of Vestavia Hills, Alabama; his son Warren Tucker Keith of Huntsville; his sister, Carolyn Pearson (Newt); two nephews, and a niece.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:30, Friday, February 3, 2023, at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home. Funeral will follow at 1:30 PM in the chapel, Jason Cicero of Clifton, Virginia officiating. Interment will be in Tuscaloosa at the Heritage Chapel Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Warren G. Keith Memorial Endowed Scholarship in Civil Engineering at The University of Alabama.
